Tony and Beth met in tenth grade and it was love at first sight…well, for Tony anyway. Beth came around about 3 years later and BOOM!
It’s his steadfast patience that she still loves almost 40 years later. He knows what he wants and he’s willing to wait for it. And the crazy one? That’s Beth. Let’s open a wedding venue, she says…Let’s start a kids clothing store the same year she says… That’s how she rolls - more ideas and dreams in her head than she knows how to hold and it keeps life in the Pendola household…interesting?
The thing they share is an authentic love of people and that’s what is most meaningful to them in their business endeavors. Making clients feel loved, welcomed and part of the family. They’ve even been known to invite couples back for beer and bratwurst around the fire pit, just to hang out months after their big day!
32 years of wedded bliss and four wonderful children later they are still madly in love so celebrating other couples and their commitment to marriage is what makes them most happy. They love that they can watch families grow from the very beginning – many of their couples now have children and visit Beth and her daughter/business partner at Beanstalk, their children’s store in Durham.
But the thing that makes Old Lystra Inn most special is Beth and Tony’s commitment to making each celebration unique. “We are not a wedding factory,” Tony says. “We are mom and pop and we will do everything we can to say yes to your vision.” Why? When they got married the venue enforced so many rules and regulations that some of their vision was lost. There should be no regrets on a wedding day. It’s for that reason that they are committed to a policy of no “preferred vendor” list. Sure it would be easier for them, but it’s your day after all! Hire your people and spend your hard-earned money on the aspects of your day that will make it most memorable to you!
